Throwbacks are cool, but upgrades are cooler.
The task for our client Midea was no easy one: create a splashy U.S. debut for their brand by featuring their first-of-its-kind, U-shaped window air conditioner. And, of course, it had to break the internet.
Our solution was obvious: the only rightful ambassador to bring an innovative A.C. unit to the masses…was A.C. Slater himself. And with everyone buzzing about the Saved by the Bell Reboot, we thought it was a perfect time to jump in on the conversation (#90snostalgia for the win).
The campaign was social first, and included all the fun stuff—a virtual shoot and edit, teaser content, an earworm one-of-a-kind song, and of course a TikTok dance challenge which coincided with Trump actively trying to ban TikTok. The potential ban didn’t stop our #ACupgrade challenge though—we got 4 billion views in one week.
While I was only able to meet Mario Lopez virtually, let me just say that childhood dreams can come true.
A friend of mine described this as a perfume ad meets 6am infomercial. And I take that as a compliment.
